Drift Spa

Creating a Contemporary, Relaxing Oasis

Drift Spa is a boutique day spa in Bend, Oregon, offering a variety of self-care and topical cosmetic treatment services. For this project, the spa itself received a cosmetic pick-me-up, transforming its dated 1970s-era interior into a contemporary, relaxing oasis with a midcentury modern flavor.

Putting Our Best Face Forward

Capitalizing on the upper level’s high ceilings and infusion of daylight, we converted it into the spa services area, which offers guests a sense of space and ease despite the small square footage.

Optimizing Existing Elements

To transform the lower level, we took advantage of what some might consider obstacles—low ceilings and limited natural light—to add privacy and tranquility to the spa’s more intimate spaces, including the locker room, steam room, staff room, and lounge.

Comfort and Privacy

Guest comfort and privacy were design drivers for this project. We incorporated a formerly unused hallway behind the stairs into the floor plan to provide a discrete route of travel between the locker and treatment rooms.

Calming, Luxurious Interior Design

The rich color palette, adjustable lighting controls, and attention to interior details work together to create a soothing, luxurious place to regroup and refresh any time of the year.
