For this design-build project, SĀJ Architecture partnered with Bremik Construction to update the 1983-era Wally Shepard Gymnasium at All Saints Catholic School, in Portland, Oregon. The major renovation transformed the space into a modern athletics and event facility serving students, parishioners, and the broader community. The project included a regulation-sized basketball and volleyball court, complete with new wood flooring, a full HVAC system, ADA-accessible restrooms, skylights for natural daylight, acoustic panels and AV upgrades, wall padding, new backboards, a PE office, and interior finishes in the school’s colors. Honoring the gym’s namesake, the team salvaged planks from the original floor and repurposed them into a donor recognition wall — preserving four decades of school history within the new space.
