Casey Campbell celebrates at the World Mountain and Trail Running Championships

Good luck to SĀJ Project Architect Casey Campbell and his team as they run the Oregon Hood To Coast Race Series relay this weekend!

When SethAmy, and Jonah decided to form SĀJ, they had an important decision to make: Should they extend an invitation to Casey to join the new firm before or after he went to Innsbruck-Stubai, Austria, to represent USA Track & Field at the World Mountain and Trail Running Championships (aka the Olympics of mountain running)?

At the event, held June 6-10, 2023, Casey competed in the 8.75-mile Classic Mountain race with ~2,300 feet of elevation change. The mountain/ultra/trail race comprised two ~4 ¼-mile laps, starting in old town Innsbruck, climbing into the mountains a couple miles, and then bombing back downhill and into town. But wait! There’s more! Runners then had to go up and down again! Casey placed 26th out of more than 120 elite runners and was the second Team USA competitor to cross the finish line.

Casey has worked with Seth since 2019. Seth offered him a job, in part, because of Casey’s commitment to community service, coaching experience, and dedication to his sport. (So, we’re not *not* saying Casey was hired as a Pole, Pedal, Paddle business team ringer!)

Besides being a World-class athlete, Casey is also an exceptional designer and willing mentor. He brings the same focus to his professional development that he applies to his race training, and our projects and team are better for it. Casey, we are so thankful you accepted the baton for the next leg of this relay that is SĀJ Architecture!
